I’m Corey, the voice you hear on TheDigiKnow and the author of Dot Monster ReVolution. Here’s what’s going on with both in the back half of February!
The Next Digimon Story
The Digimon game news drought is over! Fans of Cyber Sleuth & Hackers Memory have a new game to look forward to, one that looks to be a great successor to those surprisingly good RPGs.
What interests me most from what we’ve seen and read are the mentions of an alternate Digital World: Iliad. In my video discussing the Time Stranger trailer, I tried to emphasize the untapped narrative potential in focusing on another Digital World.
I feel Digimon has fumbled the high concept ‘Homeostasis’ and ‘Yggdrasil’ stuff in projects like the confusing Tri and the overly-serious X-Evolution. However, the game length and maturity of storytelling of Cyber Sleuth has me hoping Time Stranger might be able to nail what seems like a multiversal storyline.
A DotMon Cameo In A Digital Card Game!
The talented visual artist and game designer, panlee37, reached out to me after reading through Dot Monster ReVolution.
He was a fan of my take on the monster taming genre, and is working on his own virtual tabletop RPG, CybrFate. He shared sketches of my characters in his art style, and we agreed that it would be cool to introduce DotMon cards to CybrFate!
Within CybrFate you can grab a free ‘Promo Pack’ featuring cards for Aki, Rena, Haru, and their Partner Programs Mamoru, Seo, and Ikou. I don’t want anyone to feel any pressure to play the game if it’s not their thing (I am infamously not a card game person). But if you already play CybrFate, or were thinking of checking it out, I hope you’ll add my DotMon characters to your deck!
As for my next video: I have finished Beyblade G-Revolution and am scripting my final review now. It feels surreal to be reaching ‘The End of OG Beyblade’ twenty years after ‘The End of OG Beyblade.’ Can’t wait to share my thoughts with you!
It's cool to see creators doing collabs like this for their own projects!
